The rapid transit network in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, operated by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), encompasses 69 stations on four lines and of route.〔 It was the country's first completed subway system: the first line was built under Yonge Street, which opened in 1954 with 12 stations. Since then, the system has expanded to become Canada's largest (in terms of stations) and second busiest rapid transit rail network with an average of 1,093,300 passenger trips each weekday during the fourth quarter of 2014, after the Montreal Metro.〔 An , six-station extension of Line 1 Yonge–University north to Vaughan is under construction and scheduled to open for December 2017.〔 Replacing the current six-station, Scarborough RT intermediate rail line, a , three-station extension of Line 2 Bloor–Danforth northeast into Scarborough is approved and scheduled to open in 2023.〔 The Eglinton Crosstown, a 25-station, light rail transit (LRT) line, is under construction and scheduled to open in Fall 2021.
